About us

Pana is a local barber shop housing the very best talent Ayrshire has to offer made up of International Barber Educator, Scottish Barber’s Association Educator and YouTube barber Josh Mcpike, Male Grooming Venue of the Year winner and Scottish Barber's Association Creative Cut winner Stephen Pratt, UK Stage Educator and ex MADE Academy Educator Matthew O'rourke, ex Morton and Ayr United footballer Makhi Henry and local legend Lenon McDonnell. We are a modern barbershop using key aspects and techniques learned from the hairdressing industry that we have combined with classic barbering to push the boundaries of modern barbering within our creative space. We specialise in all aspects of hair and are a gender neutral space for anyone looking to upgrade their knowledge of hairstyles and how to style and maintain your hair long after your time with us.

Josh Mcpike Shop Owner

Having spent most of his career working within the internationally renowned education team at Rum Barber in Glasgow's West End, Josh has been a regular face to many barbers looking to upgrade their knowledge and skills on both YouTube and Instagram. He has decided to bring his knowledge and passion for barbering back to his home town of Kilmarnock opening The Compound in 2020. Through continously evolving the brand he has now opened the doors to Pana in 2024, the flagship of our work over the last 4 years within Ayrshire. Having spent time educating in both the UK and America, last year saw him take to the stage at the SECC, Los Angeles and Las Vegas to share his knowledge within the industry. Josh works closely with the first team at Kilmarnock FC making sure the players are looking their best on match days, look out for them in the chairs within the shop! Josh is well rounded in all aspects of the hair industry specialising in shorter hairstyles, fading and medium to long length hairstyles. 

Makhi Henry Stylist

Having spent time at both Ayr United and Morton FC, Makhi comes to the shop with a ton of passion for his new career within the hair industry. With his first year under his belt within barbering, Makhi has now made to permanent move to Pana to join the team in pushing the standard of barbering within Ayrshire to its highest level. Makhi specialises in shorter hair and fading. 

Matthew O’Rourke Senior Stylist

Matthew comes to our shop having started his career at 16 years old within Conways in Kilmarnock town centre. Fast forward 18 years and Matthew has gained a massive amount of knowledge and honed an incredible talent in gents barbering, having spent most of his career working and managing high end shops within Glasgow's city centre and west end. Running a team of up to 18 barbers within city centre locations Matthew's knowledge of both our industry at a business level and as a stylist is second to none. An incredibly passionate barber who understands all aspects of both gents and gender neutral styling he is your go to man for anything from fading to longer length hair. Matthew has worked within the UK for various organisations and abroad as part of creative teams focusing on stage work and showcasing current techniques within our industry. The first ever job Josh was offered within the industry was within Matthew's city centre location so to be able to have his knowledge and expertise with us here at The Compound and have this entire journey come full circle for both Josh and Matthew is something we are super excited for. 

Lenon Mcdonell Stylist

Fresh out of school and on to the tools, Lenon has swapped haircuts at lunch time for his pals for a full time position within Pana. Having spent time at the shop as a client with a passion for hair Lenon has continued to push his knowledge of barbering into his new career as a Junior Stylist. 17 years old with an incredible amount of talent, eyes were on Lenon from the start and we knew as a shop that there was no better place for him than here with us. He has a head start on all of us within the shop being the youngest stylist to start a barbering career and we cannot wait to see where this talent takes him in years to come. Stage work, education, the world is a playground for this incredibly gifted young stylist. 

Stephen Pratt Senior Stylist

Stephen has been with us since opening the doors to our first shop in 2020, opening his own business SoBarber in 2024 before returning to Pana at the end of the year. Business owner, barber educator, ambassador for companies within the industry, he does it all. The heartbeat of the shop lies with Stephen and his passion and drive for this industry. Stephen is well rounded in all aspects of hair and specialises in short hair, fading and design work on fade's and undercuts. 

Lewis Baird Junior Stylist

Having completed his college course in barbering Lewis has been working within Kilmarnock town centre perfecting his knowledge gained through his qualifications. He has now made the jump to Pana and starts within our team as a Junior stylist. Lewis specialises in shorter haircuts and fading and is available Thursday-Saturday within our shop.
